Membership fees or dues paid by an individual or corporation to a chamber of commerce are deductible from gross income as a business expense provided the membership is used as a means of advancing the business interests of the individual or corporation. Due to the changes in the 1993 tax laws regarding deductibility of lobbying expenditures, 5% of your dues are not considered deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense.
