A collaboration between GoggleWorks Center for the Arts + Penn State Berks
GoggleWorks Center for the Arts has long served as a downtown Reading mecca for creative exploration, hands-on learning, and access to the arts in countless forms. From hands-on classes in ceramics to drawing to painting to printmaking, and a number of workshops in metalsmithing, woodworking, and glassblowing, there is no shortage of opportunities to channel your inner creative amongst top-notch instructors and passionate patrons of the arts!
GoggleWorks Amenities
GoggleWorks is also home to Berks Ballet Theatre, countless artist studios, galleries, and office space, as well as the Boscov Film Theater + Belly: Kitchen + Drinkery. Newest to this roster is Penn State Berks’ LaunchBox – a collaboration between Penn State Berks and Penn State Health St. Joseph to engage the community by creating a culture of innovation to help grow the economy and improve quality of life in the Greater Reading region, specifically with a focus downtown.
By providing a public makerspace + workshop area in a central, accessible downtown location, the Berks Launchbox provides a hub to connect local entrepreneurs with the support, resources, and facilities needed to build out their ideas from concept to a sustainable plan for growth!
Many of the programs offered at Berks LaunchBox are low or NO charge to attendees, further removing the cost-barriers that often inhibit entrepreneurs to take their ideas to the next step. The Launchbox also has open hours Monday-Thursday for walk-in access, literally leaving the door wide open for the public to drop-in and learn more about the program or tinker with some of the tools in the makerspace. (for example, the 3D printers on-site!)
