The Greater Reading Chamber Alliance (GRCA) today announced that the nomination period for its annual business awards will open Tuesday, Jan. 18. The new year brings a few, significant changes to the awards process. The awards will now be known as the Business Excellence Awards with two categories separating businesses by annual revenue. Also new this year, businesses which are not headquartered in Berks County, but that can demonstrate that at least 50% of its annual revenue is generated from Berks County will be eligible to apply. The move comes after some members voiced concerns about the awards not being inclusive enough.
“We wanted to open up the competition to a broader number of our GRCA members. Many of our member businesses, which may not be headquartered in Berks County, invest significantly into our local economy and deserve to be recognized for it,” said Jim Gerlach, President & CEO, GRCA.
