This past November, the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance (GRCA) invited the community to embark on Berks County’s ultimate foodie adventure: Go Taste Berks. For an entire month, digital passport holders set out to explore restaurants, breweries, coffee shops, markets and boutiques—each offering exclusive specials, from free samples to discounts and gifts.
It wasn’t just about tasting; it was about experiencing. The event encouraged locals and visitors alike to discover hidden gems, support small businesses and celebrate the vibrant flavors of the local community.
Gamifying the Experience

For the first time, GRCA added a digital twist to the event. Using mapping software, participants could check in at each location by scanning a QR code. Every check-in earned points, which were tracked on a live leaderboard. Nearly 3,000 points were collected throughout the month, and the friendly competition added an extra layer of excitement.
At the end of the adventure, the top three point-getters were rewarded with Go Experience Berks prizes, each valued at $500 or more. From wellness packages to wine getaways and home landscaping services, the prizes reflected the diverse experiences that make Berks County special.
The Prizes
The winners had their choice of three unique experiences:
- A Berks Wellness Experience from Baja Beach Wellness, valued at over $1,200, featuring elite membership perks, body sculpting sessions, and cryotherapy.
- A cozy Berks Winter Getaway at Folino Estate Winery and Vintner’s Inn complete with wine tasting, dinner and an overnight stay.
- A Berks Home Beautification Experience from Halter Landscaping, offering either professional landscaping services or premium supplies for a DIY project.
Highlights

- In total, 45 businesses participated, spread across 49 locations. Some of the most popular stops included the four Baja Beach Wellness locations and Comalli Taqueria, which drew enthusiastic crowds.
- Three dedicated participants—Linda Griffith, Monica Rush and Renee Kovach— managed to check in at all 49 locations, a true testament to their adventurous spirit.
For many, the event was about more than just food.
“The Go Taste Berks contest was super fun and allowed us to experience and visit some places that we didn’t even know existed. The hot chocolate at Salt & Light Cafe was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted! The food at Comalli Taqueria was so authentic and delicious, and the owner of Ciccio’s Olives was so warm and welcoming into his new store,” said Kovach. “We enjoyed the mix of eateries, boutiques, farms and small businesses. Can’t wait to do it again next year!”
Looking Ahead
Go Taste Berks 2025 proved that when food, community and creativity come together, the result is unforgettable. With its new gamified format, diverse lineup of businesses and enthusiastic participants, the event set the stage for an annual tradition that will continue to grow.
Whether you’re a loyal local or a curious newcomer, Go Taste Berks is more than a taste—it’s an experience. And judging by the excitement this year, Berks County is already hungry for the next one.
